Changunarayan is an ancient temple located in the Kathmandu Valley of Nepal. It is situated on a hilltop in the village of Changunarayan, about 12 kilometers east of the capital city, Kathmandu. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, who is worshipped as Narayan, hence the name "Changunarayan."
The Changunarayan Temple is considered one of the oldest Hindu temples in Nepal and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It holds immense religious and historical significance, attracting both pilgrims and tourists alike.
The temple is believed to have been built in the 4th century during the Licchavi dynasty, making it over 1,600 years old. The Garuda Stambha is a unique feature of the temple and is dedicated to Garuda, the mythical bird and vehicle of Lord Vishnu.
