The Gokyo Lake/Gokyo Ri Trek is an attractive alternative to Everest Base Camp Trek while providing stunning views of Mt. Everest and other peaks of Khumbu Mountain range. Gokyo lakes, perched in the lap of Mt. Everest & Sagarmatha national park, is a wonderful site to enjoy a pleasant & adventurous experience. Gokyo lakes comprise six lakes among them Thognak is the largest one. The greater oxygen level even at highest altitude in the lakes is another specialty. Lakes get fresh water from Ngozumpa glacier, also known as himalaya’s largest glacier. Apart from its adventurous trek, Gokyo Lakes also known for spiritual sites where Buddhists and Hindus take their holy dip. People worship this place as a residing place of Nag Devta (snake god). This trekking trail follows through adventurous Lukla airport, Phakding, Namche Bazar, Machhermo village, Gokyo village, retracing the same route to Lukla airport for flying back to Kathmandu.

The trail to Gokyo is comparatively less crowded than Everest Base Camp trail. As we will land in one of the world’s adventurous airport after the most scenic mountain flight, the trek will formally start. Same day short trek will take us to Phakding for overnight stay while next day’s exciting walk along the Dudhkoshi River bank crossing many suspension bridges, through Sagarmatha National Park will we reach the most fascinating tourist hub in the highest altitude of mountain and also a gateway to Mt. Everest, a Namche Bazar. A day spending over here will help our body to acclimatize to less oxygenated air of the mountain and explore nearby areas as well. Then we will head towards our destination passing through beautiful Sherpa villages, uphill, downhill, green meadows, fascinating flora and fauna with stunning views of towering peaks of the region. Once you reach Gokyo village, you will be amazed with the feel of being on paradise with a sequence of Gokyo Lakes ahead. The vibrant color combination of Lakes and views around will be just an awesome, beyond the words to describe. Blending of glaciers, lakes and mountains, Gokyo village is truly a blessed treasure on earth. The much awaited moment is coming up next when we hike to Gokyo Ri (5357m), highest trekking point of this trail. The point will offer you with stunning views of mighty Himalayan peaks including the glimpse of Mt. Everest. In addition, the views of Mt. Choyu, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Lhotse, display of blue-turquoise lakes and largest glaciers will just leave your jaw dropped. After exploring many aspects and enjoying each moment of lifetime experiences we will be retracing the same route to Lukla for flying back to Kathmandu.
